Major(s)/Minor(s): SCPP/English & PSIM

Anna loves learning from others and always works toward understanding different people and situations more deeply. This summer, she served at Rosedale,a teaching program for girls in the South Bronx through the Summer Service Learning Program. She met families from all over the world, struggling with unemployment, substance abuse, and poverty.  The sharp contrast between New York City neighborhoods, some of the richest and poorest of the world, and the relationships she formed with so many girls in the South Bronx drove her to understand these girls’ situations and truly examine poverty’s effects. Anna wants to continue this examination in her future career, hopefully as a doctor serving international communities or impoverished areas of the United States. The poverty studies minor encourages this true examination; it complements her previous experiences and builds a future of service to the poor.

Fun Fact about Anna: Anna climbed from the bottom of the Grand Canyon all the way during a summer vacation!  She describes the experience as: "Eight exhausting hours!"
