Colleen says that her experience with the CSC's Appalachia seminar: "...really opened my eyes to poverty issues in the US, something that I had always placed secondary to international poverty issues." She says that the people she met during her immersion experience struck a chord that: "...got me thinking about how I wanted to incorporate serving this group of people: the poor, in my future." As a Poverty Studies minor, Colleen hopes to learn more about the interacting factors of poverty from diverse fields of study so that she can better understand how she can serve those most in need in the future.
