Dani Gies

Year: 2014
Hometown: Tucson, Arizona
Dorm: Ryan Hall
Major(s)/Minor(s): Sociology, Psychology & Spanish with the PSIM minor
Dani went to Camden, NJ on an SSLP and it changed her life. Camden is consistently rated one of the poorest and most violent cities in the United States, but she couldn't help but fall in love with the city and its people. She joined PSIM so that she would be better prepared to serve Camden when she returns there to work later in life.
Although she has only had a few classes in Intro to Poverty Studies thus far, she loves it and enjoys all the readings she has done. In addition, she is very excited for the poverty electives she will soon be taking and looks forward to participating in more experiential learning opportunities.
Dani is the manager for both the women's and men's volleyball teams at Notre Dame and is also an active, dancing member of the Hawai'i Club and Project Fresh.
Her plan is to obtain her masters in Sociology at the University of Arizona, return to work in Camden, and then fulfill her dream of working for the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI.
